Halloween

Halloween is always an exciting holiday for Violet and Lincoln and now Hazel.

Goldie still doesn't have a clue as to what's going on.

Pumpkin carving wasn't as elaborate as some in the past but still very creative.

Violet and Lincoln had parties at school so I stayed with Hazel and Goldie. This is the best costume I could come up with. I wasn't going trick or treating anyway.

This year the theme for costumes was football with Violet being the cheerleader (with an actual junior Chiefs cheerleader outfit). Lincoln was a football player and Goldie was his football. Jamie was the referee. Hazel was a princess but she beats to her own drum!

Melissa put a collage picture together of all three girls wearing the ladybug costume that Violet wore for her first Halloween. The weather was perfect for trick or treating. Living in a new neighborhood, I wasn't sure if I would have any little monsters knocking on my door. But there were about 20 who came by. While some people (Melissa and Trish) are getting ready to decorate for Christmas, I'm going to enjoy the Fall and Thanksgiving before trying to figure out which animals from my extensive menagerie of Christmas characters I'll put out!

Permanent Jewelry Party

Remember Tupperware parties? Or the door to door sales lady for Avon? Well now there's parties for just about everything - candles, cookware, t-shirts, jewelry. Some of these you don't even have to leave your home. You just log on to Facebook and BOOM, you're at the party.

The latest party I was invited to was a "Permanent" jewelry party hosted by Trish. I was a little hesitant to participate because it's hard for me to commit to almost anything. But I decided to give it a try.

Needless to say I was suckered in to buying not one but two pieces of this permanent jewelry. Melissa also got a two piece set.

While I decided to go with the same pattern but two different metals (gold and silver), Melissa went with the same metal but two different designs. This is gold filled jewelry, very light and you don't even know you have anything on. This girl also offers ankle bracelets and necklaces. I like necklaces but I have this fear of strangling myself during the night. The bracelets are fine for now.

Profitable Trip to Las Vegas

Statistics show that people who go to Vegas DO NOT WIN! Well this was my first trip to Vegas where I came home with all the money I took plus more.

I play slot machines and I couldn't seem to lose. I'm probably talking to much about this and will jinx myself the next time I go. Besides playing the slot machines I did get to spend time with Frank and Gloria and my host, Joe. I saw Frank and Gloria's condo on the strip but was so mesmerized I forgot to take pictures. In fact I forgot to take lots of memorable pictures. (Story of my life).

On my flight home I looked out the window and saw snow capped mountains. I asked the young girl next to me if she had that app that showed where we were. Just as I thought we were right over Denver. So, Michele, if Saturday around 5:20 you happened to look outside and saw a plane flying overhead, it was me waving "Hello"!

While I was gone, Hazel was on plant watering duty. She loves to come by and water my plants. Maybe one of these days I'll go on vacation and remember to take pictures.

Halloween Decorations

I can't help but decorate for the seasons.

While decorations in my subdivision are prohibited until November 30th, I thought I'd sneak in a few Halloween decorations. I just couldn't help it. Unless someone rats me out, I should be fine.

Goldie's on the Move

Goldie has started to crawl.

She hasn't completed mastered it but when she see's something she wants, she can move pretty fast. It won't be long before she's walking....Yikes!

Pumpkin Patch

Tis the season for pumpkin patches.

I went with the kids to visit the Pumpkin Patch in Lone Jack. Melissa said the price to enter was one of the cheapest around the city. While $15 doesn't seem like a lot of money since you don't pay for any of the attractions inside but when you pay for 6 people it adds up. I personally don't think they should charge adults since everything inside is geared towards children.

But that didn't stop me from getting my money's worth. Violet and I started out on the swing together but then she jumped off leaving me to balance on my own.

Then there was the slide fiasco. This is what they call a "rolling" slide. I watched Hazel go down the slide and she slowly bumped down to the end. So when Violet asked me to ride down with her I thought "sure". Never in my wildest dreams did I realize that the more weight on the slide, the faster you go. The video Melissa took was 5 seconds long. Five seconds is an extremely short time to try and figure out what to do when I got to the end of the slide. My only concern was not crushing Hazel. So I opted to just butt flop to the ground. A 5 inch drop to the ground might seem like not much unless you're an old woman who felt every bit of the 5 inches the next day.

Not sure how many more Pumpkin Patch visits I'll make this year but I'll certainly consider the consequences before hand......NOT!
