2,000,000 Steps

I finally hit 2,000,000 steps of my 3,000,000 step count goal for this year.
I may be 20 days behind on average steps but unlike most of my goals for 2023, I'm determined to complete this one. Do you think I can do it?

50th High School Reunion

I hate to admit but this weekend was my 50th high school reunion.

Friday night was a meet and greet before attending the high school football game.

It was a small crowd on Friday but I was able to catch up with a few people before the festivities planned for Saturday.

Saturday was a madhouse. From 6:00 pm until I left at 10:00, I don't think I ever stopped talking. These are a couple of my friends since Junior High.

While it's been longer than 50 years, I did get a picture with my best friend since 8th grade. If you do the math, that's 55 years of friendship which never grows old.

We did have a professional photographer to take a class picture. I think taking this picture was much harder than herding cats. How do you get over 100 people to all stop talking and smile at the same time? Old people are hilarious! I can't wait until our 55th....fingers crossed.

Look Ma...No Training Wheels

The Taylor kids are very familiar with different types of either two wheeled or four wheeled gadgets, whether it be a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, dirt bike or four-wheeler.

So it didn't surprise me when Melissa told me they had taken the wheels off Hazel's bicycle and she circled the driveway like a pro. Now I see she's already taking the four-wheeler around the property. What next.....borrowing my car? Yikes!

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day (or as I like to call it - Ma's Day) may not be a big thing to most people but it's the one day I can call my own....well maybe also my birthday.

How do you spend Ma's Day? With ice cream of course!

Not all the kids are willing to take pics but I can always count on Violet and, if she's in the right mood, Hazel. Happy Ma's Day to me!

Grain Valley Fair and Landslide (A Fleetwood Mac Cover Band)

I've been wanting to see this band called Landslide which is a cover band for Fleetwood Mac.
So when I saw they were going to be at the Grain Valley Fair, I called Trish and said we needed to go. She lives in Grain Valley.
I guess anyone can play songs by a famous band and call themselves a "cover" band. They were terrible. I'm so glad I didn't wait and pay for a performance.
The better performer was KC Wolf who mingled through the crowd during the performance. Or the 80's band who performed after Landslide. At least the fair food was good.

Family Vacation Memento

I wanted something to remind me of our family trip to California.
So I put together a collage picture of our adventures.
Even though it's hanging in the garage, it's part of my She Shed and something I'll see all the time.

Hazel's First Day of Preschool

And another one is off to school.

Hazel had her first day of preschool. Up, dressed and out the door ready for a new adventure. Although the day went smoothly, Hazel came home ready for a nap. It's exhausting going to preschool.

Hummingbirds

I haven't seen many hummingbirds this year so when my feeder was empty I just sort of forgot about it. Then I began to see hummingbirds coming to the feeder only to be disappointed that it was empty. So I made another batch of sugar water and they've been coming around.

This little guy was at the feeder at 6:30 this morning and has been guarding it all day long.

Hummingbirds are territorial by nature so when another hummingbird comes along, he chases it away. I did catch them both feeding at the same time. That didn't last long enough to get a picture before another one came by and they both chased it away. Now I have something else to stare at during the day besides the TV!
