Concert in the Park

Aunt Pam and I (and others) went to the Concert in the Park in Blue Springs to see one of our favorite groups, The Nace Brothers. We see them all the time so I feel like a groupie.

This had to have been the hottest day of the year. The concert started at 6:00 and even though we were sitting in the shade, we were sweating profusely. The concert ended at 8:00 just as it was starting to cool down. But as I told Michael, these concerts are for old people...starting at 6:00 and ending at 8:00. We can still get home and make it to bed by 9:00!!

Sleepover

Violet's been asking me if she could spend the night at my house. After having pizza at her house we headed to mine for several games of Uno (which she beat me badly) and Guess Who (which again she beat me 2 out of 3 games. Then it was time for bed.

Violet's anxiety set in a bit and decided it would be best if she slept with me instead of her own room. After several attempts of her trying to fall asleep and her waking me up because of my snoring, she finally decided to go to her own room and fell asleep immediately. While there were a few bumps, the sleepover was a success.

Next time we're going to try and spend the day together then if she's still willing, we'll try the sleepover again. But first - I need to rest. Secret be known, my anxiety was greater than hers!

Like Mother Like Daughter

It's official. Violet is following in her Mother's footsteps and has been invited to join a club volleyball team.

I went to the tryouts today and she's actually pretty good. Better than most of the girls she was playing with. I may be biased but I thought she was excellent.

She's starting 2 years younger than when Melissa started playing so if she sticks with it, I presume she'll be another all star.

I need to invest in one of those bleacher chairs. Violet may have run around the gym for an hour but sitting in the bleachers for that long and my back is killing me!

Playing Blog Catch Up

If you read my blog you know that I haven't posted anything in over a month so I've been playing catch up. I could blame it on many things - I forgot to take a picture of something, someone or some place; I got discouraged; or my biggest excuse is that I had cataract eye surgery and one eye also had retina problems. (I even forgot to take a picture of that).

Anyway I've fully recovered from surgery and trying to end my pity party. My left eye had the retina problems so my eyesight in that eye isn't as sharp as the right eye although there are times when I don't even notice it. Any bets on how long I can keep my blog updated? Money has always been a big motivator for me!

4th of July Swim Party

The Taylor's are taking advantage of their swimming pool and invited a few firemen friends to attend a 4th of July barbecue.

The price for attendance was either a side dish or dessert. Since I invited myself, I brought both.

After seeing the number of kids swimming in the pool and not knowing anyone their besides my own kids, I decided it would be best to fix myself a plate to go.

Nothing beats a flame grilled hamburger and hot dog. Thanks Melissa and Jamie for the swell party!

Water Aerobics and Silver Sneakers Exercise Classes

I'm back on the exercise and healthy eating kick. This time it's water aerobics and Silver Sneakers exercise classes.

I had my first water aerobics class and it was great. The thing about classes at 8:30 in the morning is that it's filled with people my age....although most of them looked much older. I have water aerobics twice a week and the exercise class is once a week. A friend of mine from high school also signed up so that should leave me somewhat accountable for attending.
