Hot Hot Hot - Mowing the Grass

Even though I live in a maintenance free community where they mow the grass, because part of my backyard is fenced, I have to mow that part myself. I've been watching the morning weather so I can get out there and mow without completely melting.

When I started mowing, the temperature was 75 degrees. It only takes about 30 minutes to mow, weed eat and blow away the loose grass but by the time I was finished, the temperature had soared to 83 degrees. I bought this cheap fan from Amazon the last time I mowed. You'd be surprised how fast this $13.00 fan cools you off. I may have to beg one of the kids to mow the next time unless this heat wave breaks.

Favorite "Mimi"

Goldie grabbed Violet's mimi and wrapped herself up in it.

This baby afghan has probably been the most special and most used mimi I've ever made. I've tried making new ones but Violet still wants this one. Pretty soon it will be nothing but a piece of dulled yarn. I have to admit it is REALLY soft!

Goldie Turns 6 Months Old

Oh my goodness, time flies so fast.

Goldie is already 6 months old. She's sitting up and has 2 teeth.

Melissa sent me a collage of all 4 kids at 6 months. So many people have said this one looks like this and this one looks like that. I think they all have their own characteristics and especially personalities. But they're definitely siblings!

4th of July

I ran over to the Taylor's for a little 4th of July celebration.

The kids were swimming in the pool but I wasn't in the mood.

I left a little too early and missed the snow cones.

AND I missed the small fireworks display. Maybe I need to become a little more festive.

Early 4th of July Celebration

July 3rd seemed to be the day to celebrate the 4th of July.

The Taylor kids celebrated at the neighbors with a bar-b-cue and fireworks.

Lincoln and Violet also took a ride in the neighbor's helicopter. Good thing it was during the day or they might have been dodging fireworks!

Sunday Showcase - Guest Room Decor

My original plan for decorating in the guest bedroom was a pink and green plant to put in the corner. Well I got the plant but it wasn't doing well without being directly in front of the window. I brought it into the living room and it's thriving. So instead of putting it back in the guest bedroom and risking it dying, I decided to go a different route.
I'm not a big fan of fake plants, so I put together a vase full of floral accents that didn't really resemble plants but still had the same effect. Sometimes I think it looks like a funeral arrangement and other times I think it's just perfect.
This is a view from the door. Not bad for an amateur floral arrangement!

Sweet Sixteen!

Melissa and Jamie celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.

Jamie planned a dinner at the Marina 27 Steak and Seafood restaurant at Lake Lotawana.

Sixteen years and 4 kids later, they're still going strong. Happy Anniversary!
