Concert in the Park

During the Summer, Rotary Park in Blue Springs has free concerts on Sunday evenings.
I reached out through Facebook to some girls I went to high school with to see if they would be interested in going to the concert. I haven't seen these girls since I graduated from high school and I really didn't hang around or do things with them. But the years change people and new friendships are created. I think my social calendar is now full for the next 6 months. By the way, The Nace Brothers (a local group from Warrensburg) was the featured band. I've been wanting to hear them for some time. But last night was not the night. We spent so much time talking and catching up that I couldn't even tell you what they played.

National Dog Day

Today is National Dog Day and Jamie sent a text asking me to post a picture of Lola and Khloe on Facebook. Since Jamie, Melissa and Violet are at Disney and I'm stuck watching the dogs, I thought I'd take advantage of my creativity and post an appropriate picture.
I posted "Mom and Dad went to Disney and left us at home on National Dog Day." I'm still laughing at the way this picture turned out. If you look real close you can see the WalMart sack hanging out the side of Khloe's hat. I had to stuff the hats so I could get them to stay on. Lola and Khloe are still hiding because they're so embarrassed.

Missouri State Fair

I used to go to the Missouri State Fair every year when the kids were growing up. That's what people do when they live in Sedalia. This is the first year since I left Sedalia in 2001 that I went to the Fair.
And things haven't changed. The weather was hot and sunny.
I remember the corn dogs tasting a bit better but it could have been my younger tastes.
Poor Melissa is now lugging around a toddler while being 6 months pregnant.
But they have taken one building and made it a play room for kids ages 1 through maybe 12? Perfect for someone Violet's age plus the building was air conditioned. Sure beats the children's barnyard we just left.
There still isn't too many places to sit but that didn't discourage Violet. She's at that age where she loves to play in the dirt.
Violet is still a bit young for most of the rides since she's either too small and afraid or Jamie's too big. She always likes the carousel but this one went around really fast. It was hard to catch a picture and of course when it stopped, Jamie and Violet were on the other side.
I don't know how I used to spend my time most of the 10 days the fair was in town. Towards the end I would just go into the fair, buy my funnel cake, corn dog and cinnamon roll and go back home. But as Violet gets older and baby boy Taylor joins our group, I may be going more often.

Family Night at the "K"

Last night we all went to the Royals game - Me, Michael, Ashley, Melissa, Jamie and Violet. We probably would have taken Khloe and Lola but dogs aren't allowed.
We all piled into the Taylor's car and headed for Kauffman Stadium. It's surprising how easy it was to get into the stadium. No long traffic lines even though the game was sold out.
This was Violet's first trip to a Royals game. She enjoyed the new environment and even got to have ice cream for dinner.

We took advantage of the outfield fountains to take a few pictures.

Our seat were in the outfield on the first base side. I had a little trouble following the ball and since everyone was sitting to my right, I kept missing the exciting plays.
Michael tried all night to get Violet to wear his baseball cap. It was a fun family evening even though the Royals lost. It's a good thing they're 12 games ahead. Go Royals!

Fitbit Italy Badge

All these Fitbit challenges I've been competing in are paying off.
Today I earned the Italy badge. That's a total of 736 miles, the entire length of Italy. Not that I don't like walking but I think I'd rather take that trip in a limo!
