Thanksgiving 2016

Why I think holidays will be simple is beyond me. You'd think if you were going out to dinner, then all the hassle of preparing and cleaning up after a big meal would be stress free, right? Not if you're part of my family.
Leave it to say another Thanksgiving is over and I got this great picture of me with Violet and Lincoln. I don't care if Lincoln has a toy in his mouth, my picture turned out great! Happy Thanksgiving!

Preschool Field Trip and Babysitting Duty

Today Melissa went with Violet on her field trip to Burr Oak Woods Nature Center.
There are several exhibits and interactive activities for the kids both inside and out.
Melissa said the presenter was very knowledgeable and fun for the kids.
I could have gone on the field trip but because the weather has been a lot cooler, I opted to babysit Lincoln. The job isn't very hard considering he takes an hour nap. He also gets to play with the toys without anyone taking them from his hands. But instead of playing with toys, Lincoln decided to catch up on the housework. Busy day for a busy boy.
By the time Violet got home, the temperature rose so we went outside to play. It scared me to death when Violet came zooming out of the garage in her battery powered car. I didn't know they went that fast. Lincoln loves to ride with her but she has to put it on slow or he bumps his head on the dashboard when she stops. I guess airbags need to be installed. Violet decided to let Lincoln steer on this ride. It was a little hard for her to step on the gas and look around him. Needless to say, I went to bed early that night!

Brown Color Day at Preschool

Besides all the other stresses of attending preschool, now there's certain "color" days.
Today was brown day. With a mother who is very fashion conscience, Violet is decked out on the lighter shade of brown. She's still a beauty no matter what day it is!

Lincoln - 12 Month Onesie Sticker Picture

Well Lincoln, you finally made it through all 12 onesie sticker pictures.
Just like Violet, you'll probably be wearing a big 18 on your back as you walk down the aisle at your high school graduation.

Birthday Dinner with Great Grandpa

Since Lincoln's birthday falls on Monday night dinner with Dad, we decided to go to Raising Cain's - a fast food chicken place. Besides Lincoln is too young to really care.
Trying to get Dad and Lincoln to pose at the same time is literally impossible. So this is what I got. Happy Birthday Lincoln.

Lincoln Turns One

It seems like yesterday I was flying down I-435 with Melissa driving us to the hospital. Did I mention she was in labor?
Well our little Lincoln boy has turned 1 year old.
He was a little timid about digging into his cake.
But after he got a taste of the sweet icing, it was all over his face. Note to self - navy icing is not good for clothes.
Violet was the good sister and very patiently helped Lincoln with his cake.
Then it was present time. Lincoln was a little overwhelmed with opening presents so Violet was glad to step in and open them for him.
By then end of the party, Lincoln was pooped and just wanted to chill out in his new chair.
Happy Birthday Lincoln!

Another Girls' Night Out

I tend to believe I'm back in high school when my friends and I get together.
The only problem - the band doesn't start until 9:00 p.m. and that's my bedtime. It's not unusual for me to leave by 10:30. Still a lot of fun!

Preparing for Pictures

Preparing for pictures for a 1 year old doesn't always go as we plan it in our heads.
Melissa had the perfect outfit for Lincoln's 1 year old picture but apparently Lincoln didn't want to cooperate for the photographer. But she was able to catch this action shot.
Sometimes planning is too much for a 1 year old.
