Melissa always dreamed of having a baby girl so she could let her hair grow long, put it in pony tails and fancy braids. From the time Violet was a baby, Melissa always had a bow in her hair. Now that Violet is getting older and making her own decisions, she doesn't want her hair in a pony tail.
But that phase is starting to change.
Not only can you put her hair in a pony tail (if she's in the mood) but it stays in for longer than 5 minutes. There usually has to be a special event for the pony tail. This time it was helping Daddy with the firehose.

Professional Portraits
Melissa has this obsession with taking professional pictures of her family. But she's getting better about only ordering a few pictures.
This was Lincoln commemorating his six month birthday! Taking the pictures is the easy part. Sitting in front of the computer and analyzing each and every shot for an hour is now the obstacle to overcome.

Mother's Day 2016
Awww Mother's Day! That wonderful day of the year when mothers are pampered by their kids....not!
You would think just having your two kids over for dinner on a Sunday afternoon would be quiet and relaxing. But when you add in Violet and Lincoln, and my having to fix dinner, it gets a little hectic.
Melissa celebrated her third year of being of mother. Violet's at that age where she'd just as soon get the picture taking over and Lincoln's confused about everything. There were other pictures taken outside, but this is my favorite.
I think your favorite part of Mother's Day is supposed to be the love and joy of having your family around. Mine is the presents. I got a new masterpiece from Violet. Lincoln was supposed to be part of the hand bouquet, but he didn't want to cooperate. A new Fitbit Alta and an iTunes gift card to get more music to walk by.
I wouldn't trade being a mother or a grandmother for anything!

My Little Gardener
Melissa is always looking for things to keep Violet occupied, so I suggested they come by and help me plant my Spring flowers.
Violet followed me around the greenhouse and helped pick the flowers. When we got back to my house, she helped me plant the flowers in both flower boxes. Then her job was to do the watering. I can't believe how much she did on her own. And it's so fun to do things with her. She can actually hold a conversation with you! She's so smart and now my front porch is not so bare.
And let's not forget Lincoln. He was inside learning to play the saxophone!

St Teresa's Academy Golf Classic
I mentioned in an earlier post that my new hobby is playing golf. After several trips to the driving range, my friend Regina invited Robin and I to play in St Teresa's Academy Golf Classic.
I'm usually a fair weather friend and golfing is no exception. The day was cold (50's) but at least it wasn't raining. We started out strong, not hitting very far but at least it was straight. I felt sorry for Regina's husband, our 4th player. He was stuck on a team with 3 other women. But Regina insisted he didn't mind coming in last place.
When we returned to the clubhouse, Robin and I were laughing so hard. I'm not sure whether it was because we were tired or just happy to be done. One man walked by and said we were having way too much fun. I told him to think that same way when they called our names for last place. He said there was no way we could be after him. Maybe we didn't do as bad as I thought. I had to leave before all the prizes were awarded to take Dad to dinner. I told Regina to call me if we won anything. I haven't heard from her since.
