Boos, Barks and Badges - Halloween Parade

Melissa and I took the kids to the Lee's Summit Halloween parade. It's called Boos, Barks and Badges. Families and their dogs are invited to wear costumes and actually be the parade. There were almost as many dressed up pets as there were costumed children.

After the parade, some of the downtown shops give away candy to the trick or treaters.

Then we stood in line hoping to win the best costume awards. Violet was Cinderella and when she passed by the judges stand she shyly waved to the judges. I thought that might have given her a few points since the judges waved back. Lincoln was Charlie Brown complete with Michael's Snoopy from 35 years ago.

Neither Violet nor Lincoln won the competition but at least the weather cooperated. Whoever heard of 80 degree weather for Halloween.

Lincoln - 11 Months Old

I cannot believe that next month we'll be celebrating Lincoln's first birthday.

Hang in there Lincoln. There's only one more sticker and one more time you have to wear the onesie!

School Pictures

Today is picture day at school and like always, Melissa had to make sure Violet had the perfect outfit and now the perfect hair for her pictures.

Hopefully pictures were taken as soon as Violet got to school. I can't imagine her sitting perfectly still and keeping these curls before the flash of the camera. 

But isn't that what school picture day is all about. Capturing just that moment when you look your worst. The school setting may not be the best, but at least we have the "closet" picture!

Break Time

Now that Lincoln's walking he walks everywhere. His favorite is the garage or outside.

After all that walking, a guy just needs to take a break every once in awhile.

Busy Dad

I feel so fortunate to have a son-in-law who not only provides for his family but takes an active part in everything they do.

Who needs a workout when you have these two to keep you in shape.

Lincoln Takes His First Steps

Not even 11 months old and Lincoln is taking his first steps.

I guess he has to find some way to keep up with Violet, Lola and Khloe.

Exploration Hazards

There are so many toys at the Taylor house and Lincoln has to explore each and every one of them.

This time he got stuck trying to figure out the painting easel. The worst part is Melissa took the time to take a picture of her son in distress before rescuing him. Just another moment in the life of an inquisitive child.

Home Depot Kids Workshop

I was at Home Depot to look for Halloween decorations and saw them setting up for a kids workshop.

Later that day I saw this picture Melissa posted of Violet attending the same workshop - although at a different location.

After constructing her fire engine, she received a certificate of achievement for her creative project. Isn't Home Depot every girl's dream shop? It is for Jamie and now for Violet.
