Playing in the Rain

One of Violet's favorite things to do is jump in rain puddles.
Now she's teaching Lincoln just how fun it is to splash in the water. Violet is such a pro that she has rain boots. Looks like we need to get a pair for Lincoln.

Valentine's Day

It's hard to believe that I got all my family together for Valentine's Day. It wasn't actually February 14th, but the 13th worked for me.
Not being the typical candy hearts and flowers kind of Mom, I bought everyone (including myself) a Nintendo.
I also consider myself lucky that day because Jamie was around to fix my sump pump when it happened to burn up while they were here. When Jamie and Violet returned from Home Depot, they had a dozen red roses and an heart eye emoji balloon for me.
On Valentine's Day, the Taylors went all out with heart sunglasses,
Funny snap chat faces
And family photos.
Not to be outdone, Michael and Ashley spent the afternoon bowling with a romantic date night out to dinner. This may all seem pretty glamorous but I believe we were all in bed by 9:00!

Crocheting Slippers

I was frantically searching my brain for an idea for a Christmas present when I thought "what do I do best?" Crocheting immediately popped into my head. But I knew I wouldn't be able to crochet an afghan in less than a week. So I remembered how much one of my friends liked a pair of slippers I crocheted for her several years ago.
Not only did I make a pair of slippers for a Christmas present, but also stitched out a pair for two friends for their birthdays.
While I was at it I decided to make a pair for Melissa for her birthday and one pair for Ashley. Each pair takes me about 2 days to make. I'd only have to charge $200 per pair in order to retire in style.

Violet Attempts to Ice Skate

Jamie is a big ice skating fan so it only seems natural that he would want Violet to be able to ice skate.
She's not quite Dorothy Hamill but if she sticks with it we might see her in the 2032 Olympics!

Bittersweet Birthday

January 26, 1983 was not only the day Melissa was born but it was also the day her great grandmother passed away. How sad it was for all of us when on this birthday, January 26, 2017, her grandfather passed away.
I feel so sorry for her that she was not able to celebrate her 34th birthday with party hats and horns. Our lunch at Chick-fil-A just didn't seem quite enough. I promise next birthday will be different. For what it's worth, Happy Birthday!

New Look for My Closet

After I finished painting and decorating my bedroom and master bathroom, my next task was tackling my closet.
Now most people would say "it's just a closet". But, as is my usual fashion, the room isn't complete without every attention to detail.
It took me about 4 days to paint this closet. The result was beyond even my own expectation.
Then my OCD kicked in and I decided to take part of my shelves and make a jewelry showcase. I might have gone a bit overboard, but now I can see exactly all the jewelry I have and I'm able to pick and choose which items to wear. Most of this is costume jewelry but it's fun to be able to see everything at one glance.

Chiefs Red Friday at Harrah's

Michael has all types of perks working as an Executive Host for Harrah's.
With the Chiefs being in the playoffs, the executive host team at Harrah's took the opportunity to express their support on social media. Michael didn't get to go to the playoff game and the Chiefs didn't win but he's still a very loyal Chiefs fan. I think he got to keep the shirt!
