New Year's Eve

I stopped celebrating New Year's Eve years ago...way too late for me.
But at the Taylor house there is always a balloon drop. It may not be at midnight but the tradition continues.
Even Khloe and Lola cooperated and wore the New Year's Eve headbands. Happy New Year! May 2025 be the best year ever!

A Merry Chiefs Christmas

The Chiefs were playing on Christmas Day this year so we all gathered at my house to watch the game, eat Christmas dinner and open gifts.

While most of us were dressed in Chiefs gear, Lincoln and Jamie decided to dress as the Grinch. Blended nicely with the red Chiefs colors.

During half time I thought there would be plenty of time to open gifts but that didn't happen. One eye on the packages, one eye on the television.

But we were all together and everything went off as planned. Not only did everyone have fun opening gifts but the Chiefs won the game. I'm not sure how I can top this year's festivities for next year but I'm going to try!

Christmas Eve - Elf on the Shelf

It's finally Christmas Eve and the kids are so excited because they get to touch their Elf on the Shelf.

Luckily for Melissa there are only 2 elves...Violet has figured it out and Goldie really doesn't care. Otherwise Melissa would have to try and figure different arrangements for 4 elves. She says 2 is hard enough. Good-bye Frosty and Sprinkles until next year!

Kelce Penalty Shoes

I'm so very much in to watching the Chiefs games and my Chiefs outfits. So much so that I got a pair of yellow tennis shoes which the sports announcers have started calling "penalty shoes" because yellow shoes are what Travis Kelce wears on the field and some people think the officials have thrown a penalty flag when they notice the shoes on the field.
I've had so many compliments from wearing them. They're very bright and not anyone would wear them. But I would!

A Visit with the Clydesdales

Teresa took the Taylor's to Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, MO, home to more than 70 Clydesdales ranging from foals to stallions.

At the last minute, Goldie was running a fever so Melissa had to stay home. Walking around in 30 degree weather looking at horses just isn't my thing so I chose to stay home. The kids enjoyed it and had a very good experience. Maybe next year Teresa can come up with an indoor activity.

Jamie's Birthday

We had dinner on my birthday to celebrate my and Jamie's birthdays. Crazy as usual but always nice getting all my family together.

Jamie's gift was holding down the fort while Melissa and Violet headed to Omaha for Violet's first scrimmage volleyball tournament.

But when Violet woke up this morning in Omaha, she had a 101* temperature so they turned around and headed back home. Not the best birthday gift for Jamie but look on the bright side. He got to spend quality time with Lincoln, Hazel and Goldie. Happy Birthday Jamie. May next year be even better!

Another Milestone Birthday

The dreaded day has finally arrived. I turned 70 years old.

It's not too bad. It was actually more like Christmas for me. Lots of goodies.

I remember when I was much younger, like in my 20's, thinking 70 years old was ancient. Honestly, it is!

Elf on the Shelf

Sprinkles, Frosty and Sparkles arrived today marking the official start of Christmas at the Taylor house.

Melissa always seems to find cute ways to stage the elves.

I had an elf when Violet and Lincoln were younger but I gave that chore up. Too much preparation for me plus no one gets to see my Elf on the Shelf but me. Am I turning into Scrooge? Goldie didn't make the first picture. She was still sleeping.
